Koreshi Chronicles - Chapter VII: End of the Line

36 Spring, 1927

They held hands as they hurried down the Oxford streets, looking for all the world like two sisters on a late-afternoon stroll. Lyta had become practiced at watching her periphery without obviously scanning the surroundings, and every sense was on high alert. Miranda, to her credit, had not protested when Lyta led her away from the delicatessen in the opposite direction from their apartment. She walked in silence, her free hand clenched in a fist, the bagels forgotten.

Koreshi Chronicles - Chapter VII: Aftermath

Okran entered the cafe, his barrel chest squeezing by the young woman sweeping up some debris from the renovations taking place on the storefront.

He walked in and found Lorelei immediately in the nearly empty establishment. He sat down and gave her a wink.

"I see your wounds have done nothing to dampen your spirits," she said, a little more peevishly than usual, he thought.

"Ah, well, I ain't wounded anymore, love. I've just got a few new scars."

"I always thought you had too many to start with."

"Really? I’d reckoned you fancied my scars," he joked, but she didn't seem in the mood to reminisce.

The aftermath of the not-as-good-as-anticipated job! I think we blindsided Georges the GM twice in one session, which must be some sort of record.

Koreshi Chronicles - Chapter VII: Glorious!

“How’s Lyta?”

The question dampened his mood as violently as the train had screeched to a stop on the Marigold spur, and it left him dangling nearly as precipitously.

“She’ll be fine,” he responded vaguely before realising an ambiguous answer would just make Ellen go from worried to angry.

“What do you mean? How badly is she hurt, Doc?”

A thrilling conclusion to a thrilling op gone wrong! Where everything that can get messed up, has been messed up! Including the dice rolls! (Oh, so many botched dice rolls…)

Koreshi Chronicles - Chapter VII: Impotence

The looming form of the Command Jager filled his peripheral vision.  Lukas continued to fiddle with his pack, half in and half out of the cockpit of his fallen Gear.  His mind raced through various scenarios

Koreshi Chronicles - Chapter VII: Out of the Frying Pan

18 Spring, 1927

“Fucking Southern piece of shit!”

The ground was coming up fast as the Adder pitched forward. The warning klaxons that had been blaring over the speakers suddenly fell silent, and the control panel displays winked out. Lyta braced herself against her seat. At least the crew compartment was well cushioned – she would probably survive the impact, and she might even be able to do it without any injuries. The Gear, on the other hand, was probably little better than scrap metal at this point. It would take Fennec months to bring it back to working order, and it wouldn’t even be worth the effort.

Koreshi Chronicles - Chapter VII: First Blood

It was bound to happen. Someone was going to find out about this deal.

It could have been the Comptroller squeezing in on the deal or a leak from inside his organisation or, worse yet; maybe it was retaliation for what had been done to his transporter? It was more likely that it was Matoux making good on his threat. It could also been an agency of some kind, maybe even HIRA! Who knew?

Koreshi Chronicles - Chapter VII: Clues

He tried the “crazy hyena eyes” on her. Those always worked for that iconic 40th century-transgendered-psionic-sociologist-pirate in the Thorien Lewis novellas. Alas, she was not deterred, just somewhat scared if he read her right. ‘At least that was something,’ Todd thought.

“I’m sorry to bother you, Brumhilda, but...” she stammered. The “hyena eyes” were potent after all.

An ambush! How... utterly expected, really. Can't say we didn't see this one coming. On the other hand, our precious cargo is now hurtling towards a cliff and may never be recovered. That'd suck.
