The Other Council pt 1

Tom was looking at the scrawled note in his hands, they were shaking. He couldn’t remember the last time he was this nervous, or anxious, he couldn’t decide which.

Eggs, cawfee, and confession

The BCG galley was almost empty by the time Celina and Maia entered. They'd dropped Tanya off at school together and spent a few hours on the Trader's Way, buying amenities that Maia considered essential for their new home. They made chit-chat, talking about the city and their respective impressions. Maia shared her half-joking idea to go into the pomander business; Celina mused on the possibility of starting a ward in the hospital for victims of "heap stench." They walked hand-in-hand, and Maia was chagrinned that she didn't remember the last time they'd done so.

But as the sun rose higher in the east, their stomachs intruded on the shopping, and they made their way back towards the squat BCG complex for breakfast.

Group Therapy

once again she awoke to the sound of screaming, as usual it was her own. She caught her breath and willed herself to slow her racing heart and when she was almost in control, her stomach went through the floor and great heaving sobs shook her violently. She nearly suffocated herself in her pillow trying to suppress the sounds of her lamenting.

Wordslingin'

Tonight's Heavy Gear game was a lovely little session in which the characters return home to Khayr-ad Din to see long-lost friends... and a few ex-lovers. Also, Kain revealed a Super Secret Mission (tm) of global scale. Naturally, this led to excessive amounts of quotes. It must be time for Wordslingin'!

The Lucky Shot Casino

Built between 1920-22, The Lucky Shot was one of the new oasis towers that went up with the explosion of the Kayr ad-Din Dueling circuit onto the global scene via the Hermes network. It was funded by the Badlands Caravan Guild, the Forzi and Granis Cartels and Spider Jahmoon.

Dick-Ache and Letty, three cycles earlier:

It's gettin late in the night, and the only ones left at the poker table are other sharks like us. Billie's probably doing dirty dirty things with the bouncer, after gettin herself kicked out earlier for fightin -- I ain't seen him back since he escorted her out. And Twister left to do god knows what. Ride along a mountain ridge in the moonlight while chewin tabaccy and hummin' a ditty? It's hard to tell with him.

Vemeer,

I have given great thought to your request and have decided you deserve the promotion you asked for.

The Shadow and the Show

Jimmy Croydon was a man no one forgot. He was all teeth and sparkling eyes. His red hair was a tussle so perfectly balanced between dishevelled and distinguishing that you didn’t know if Jimmy woke up looking that good or had to put in a hard day’s work getting it just right. His smile came as easy as sleep at noon, so easily that the first time you met him you were sure you two was best friends.
