Koreshi Chronicles - Chapter VII: Out of the Frying Pan

18 Spring, 1927

“Fucking Southern piece of shit!”

The ground was coming up fast as the Adder pitched forward. The warning klaxons that had been blaring over the speakers suddenly fell silent, and the control panel displays winked out. Lyta braced herself against her seat. At least the crew compartment was well cushioned – she would probably survive the impact, and she might even be able to do it without any injuries. The Gear, on the other hand, was probably little better than scrap metal at this point. It would take Fennec months to bring it back to working order, and it wouldn’t even be worth the effort.

Koreshi Chronicles - Chapter VII: First Blood

It was bound to happen. Someone was going to find out about this deal.

It could have been the Comptroller squeezing in on the deal or a leak from inside his organisation or, worse yet; maybe it was retaliation for what had been done to his transporter? It was more likely that it was Matoux making good on his threat. It could also been an agency of some kind, maybe even HIRA! Who knew?

Koreshi Chronicles - Chapter VII: Clues

He tried the “crazy hyena eyes” on her. Those always worked for that iconic 40th century-transgendered-psionic-sociologist-pirate in the Thorien Lewis novellas. Alas, she was not deterred, just somewhat scared if he read her right. ‘At least that was something,’ Todd thought.

“I’m sorry to bother you, Brumhilda, but...” she stammered. The “hyena eyes” were potent after all.

An ambush! How... utterly expected, really. Can't say we didn't see this one coming. On the other hand, our precious cargo is now hurtling towards a cliff and may never be recovered. That'd suck.

More meetings! Yay! (But we're so close to the big job now, it'll definitely happen next time...)

Koreshi Chronicles - Chapter VII: Dangerous People in Dangerous Places

5 Spring, 1927 – Gardena

The feeling of being completely immersed in water was strangely relaxing, Lyta reflected, at least after she’d gotten over her initial terror of drowning. The training area where Riley Markus had taken her was tiny compared to the vastness of Gardena’s underground water systems, but descending several meters below the surface had still proven a daunting challenge. Even in Junira Loresh, Lyta had rarely waded out deeper than her hips. To completely submerge herself, to feel the water close in over her head, had caused her heart to pound so loud in her chest she was amazed that Riley couldn’t hear it.

More meetings! These ones went… less well than last time. Lukas’ negotiation skills are why we can’t have nice things.

This week's session mostly involved a lot of meetings. Because huge ops in which you make millions of dinar don't plan themselves.
