Hey guys,

There’s no easy way to say this, but if you’re hearing this recording than I’m dead.

I’ve recorded a couple of these in the last cycle for you guys, fortunately those were never heard and as I record this one I am hoping for the same, but I also have to face reality and the fact of the matter is that we are in a dangerous line of work.

You guys know this, you’ve been doing it long enough to know the dangers just like I do. So that’s the first thing I want you to remember: I knew the risks and I accepted them.

This message is programed to be sent to you if I don’t stop it every 7 days so you may or may not know I’m dead yet. You might of been there for all I know. I don’t regret my end if it served a greater purpose and although I can imagine Lukas rolling his eyes right now, I do hope it was a good death. One with meaning. If I died hit by a Longrunner or choking on a barnaby steak I’ll be disappointed but even if I died for nothing I lived for something and that also has meaning.

Which brings me to my second point. I know we’ve had our ideological differences. You guys aren’t Kin, you haven’t had the same values instilled in you. But you chose to work with me and I saw hope in that. My hope remains that you will continue the work without me.

Lukas, I want you to consider that. I could never have a serious talk with you about purpose and committing yourself to something bigger, you’d just make fun of me again, just like when we were kids. But I think you need to embrace a destiny that is bigger than odd jobs and money. I firmly believe that great people are meant to achieve great things. That’s you. Of course I had to wait ‘till I was dead before I could admit it, otherwise how could I live it down?

Torgath, I think you understand. I think that you feel some kind of duty to the Sand Riders. I think that’s noble. Judging by the ones I’ve met and the one I really knew, I think your heart is in the right place. I just want you to consider that no matter how isolated they think they are, the Great White desert won’t protect them forever. Nuclear or biological war between the Poles or orbital bombardments don’t really respect geographical barriers. What I’m saying is that I think my goals and yours aren’t mutually incompatible. I think you already see that so try and help your brother to come around OK?

Lyta, well...I’m glad you came back into my life. I hope that you’ll put that big heart to use on Lukas. Teach him its OK to care, I know it was a hard lesson for you to learn.

Finally, I just want to say protect yourselves. Terra Nova is a harsh and bitter place but in the most hostile places spring the strongest hope of life and happiness.  You guys are so lucky to have each other. I had to rebuild my Kin but it isn’t the same as growing up together. I just wanted to let you guys know that I consider you guys family. You knew the real me, the one before the war. The best thing that has happened to me in the last 10 cycles was finding you again.

I guess I should part with some kind of wisdom from beyond the grave, well we know I’m not a wise man but something your dad said to me once still resonates. “Let go of your past, and always try to move forward.” I think he was talking about looking to the future. I think he also believed in hope.
