Wordslingin'

This week's session mostly involved a lot of meetings. Because huge ops in which you make millions of dinar don't plan themselves.

Koreshi Chronicles - Chapter VII: The Fate of Girls

40 Winter, 1927

It was a beautiful night for fireworks, cool and crisp and clear. Lyta and Miranda lay huddled under their blanket as the sun dipped below the horizon, thermoses in hand. The hot chocolate was every bit as good as they had been led to believe, and they’d bought samples of both the sweet tuber and the cream buns, just for comparison’s sake. They had spent the day wandering the street festivals, buying little trinkets and watching the performers. Miranda had had her face painted and had even prevailed upon Lyta to do the same, a sight which would no doubt cause endless mockery by her brothers if they ever saw her.

“Honestly, I don’t know why you insist on meeting in an endless line of coffee shops Okran.” The grey eyed woman said as she sat down awkwardly on the low bench, trying to keep her skirt a decent length with one hand as she clutched her bag in the other.

“Because this is Oxford and besides, this is a tea house.” Okran Radsley retorted with his characteristic charismatic smile.

It had no effect on her.

Koreshi Chronicles - Chapter VII: Eureka

Todd read the encrypted message from Dawn and hoped desperately that it hadn`t been intercepted by HIRA, or anyone else for that matter. People smarter than him said it wouldn`t.

Koreshi Chronicles - Chapter VII: A Good Day

The Doc opened the balcony door and let the cool breeze of Lyonesse’s evening air rush in. He took two steps back blindly to where he knew a large wing chair awaited him. His eyes were fixed on the shimmering lights spread out on the skyline but his mind was focused on the events that had just transpired. He had just made one of the biggest deals of his life, maybe the biggest. ‘This’, he thought, ‘was a good day.’

Koreshi Chronicles - Chapter VII: While the Captn's Away

Torgath was out of his depth. He would have turned to Lukas, but he was away in KAD and anyway, he would have just told him to “get it done.”

Koreshi Chronicles – Chapter VII: Delusions of Normalcy

39 Winter, 1927

“Miranda, come over here for a sec.”

Miranda trotted over to where Emilee stood at the edge of the obstacle course. At the far end, a blue gymnastics ring hung suspended from the ceiling. Beneath it was an enclosed square surrounded by high padded walls – there was no way to reach the ring from the ground. This was deliberate. Lyta’s kuritra courses had become more elaborate and more sprawling in the days since she had returned from Thebes as she and the other trainers had scavenged anything from the storage lockers that wasn’t nailed down. It had gotten to the point where Paula, the head coach, had laid down a demarcation line in tape on the gym floor: this far and no farther. Still, the kuritra area now encompassed nearly an eighth of the total gym, a confusion of padded walls and mats, even and uneven bars, climbing walls, ropes, and other gymnastics equipment. It wasn’t the B’ti, but it was the closest thing Lyta had found outside of Junira Loresh.

Koreshi Chronicles - Chapter VII: Going Faces

On the maglev, Lukas had whiled away some of the time deciding on a new name to go with his new face.

It was a small amusement, but fun was where you found it (or so some grizzled caravaner had once said), and Lukas found it a welcome relief from reading 30 different newspapers in 4 different languages in the hope of assembling a geopolitical picture that would point him to a likely buyer for a portable town.

Wordslingin'

Back to Oxford, where some of Our Heroes (tm) return to their day jobs, others attend highly intellectual conferences, and yet others get out as quickly as they can.
